Karan Tarale, founder of TBL Creative (formerly The Bottomline Digital), isn’t trying to build just another agency. He’s building a thinking partner for businesses that are tired of spending on marketing without knowing what they truly stand for.

Based in Pune, Karan brings over a decade of experience across branding, marketing, and digital strategy. Having worked with more than 150 brands across real estate, mobility, architecture, manufacturing, lifestyle, and consumer sectors, his work sits at the intersection of brand clarity, strategic thinking, and business growth and has since grown into a multidisciplinary team serving clients across India. Karan says, 

“Great brands are built not just through creativity, but through insight, consistency, and long-term vision. Over the years, we have delivered brand identities, GTM campaigns, and digital strategies for brands, helping them strengthen their positioning and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.”

The Market Gap

Karan was inspired by a prevalent gap he saw in the market. He explains that while many businesses were spending on marketing and advertising, only a handful were investing in brand thinking, positioning, and the narrative that gives a brand meaning. This gap between spending and thinking is what led to the creation of TBL Creative in 2021. He adds,

“Most brands don’t fail in the market. They fail in clarity. If your positioning is weak, your marketing is just expensive noise. I realised that businesses often jump straight into advertising without defining the core narrative of the brand, what it stands for, how it should be perceived, and what emotional space it should occupy in the consumer’s mind.”

TBL Creative—short for Think Beyond Limits—believes that strong brands are shaped by clarity of thought, not just creative execution. Their services include brand strategy, identity creation, rebranding, campaign development, digital growth, performance marketing, and thought leadership for founders.

TBL Creative works closely with founders and leadership teams to make sure that the brand should feel like an extension of the founder’s thinking, not just the output of a creative team.

One of the biggest challenges Karan faced early on was building credibility and trust as a young founder working with established businesses. He explains,

“You’re not just selling ideas. You’re selling belief—in your thinking, your process, and your ability to see what others might miss.”

His response was simple: “Consistency over noise.”

Karan knew he could overcome the roadblocks by focusing on fundamentals, showing up every day, prioritising work that created long-term value, and holding on to the vision even when results were not immediate.Over time, that discipline translated into long-term partnerships, with clients relying on TBL Creative not just for execution, but for strategic direction. He adds, 

“Another important factor was maintaining a calm and clear mindset, focusing on fundamentals rather than reacting emotionally to challenges.”

So far, the agency has worked with more than 150 brands across sectors, delivered over 50 branding, campaign, and digital growth projects, and built identities and communication systems for businesses in real estate, manufacturing, EV mobility, architecture, FMCG, and lifestyle. TBL Creative has also done brand creation and packaging for consumer products & D2C brands. 

But Karan considers their biggest achievement to be something less visible—trust.

“Clients don’t just come to us for a logo or a campaign. They come to us when they need to make foundational decisions about how their business should be perceived.”

Future Plans

Since its founding in 2021, TBL Creative has grown into one of the most respected brand strategy consultancies in India. 

Looking ahead, the focus is clear: build deeper, not just bigger. While the agency is expanding into international markets and integrating AI into its processes, Karan is clear about what will remain unchanged.
“Our job is not to compete with AI. It is to think better, feel deeper, and bring sharper human insight into the work. Technology will accelerate execution, but clarity will always be a human advantage.”
At a time when speed is celebrated, he believes the real differentiator is direction.
I believe that the real risk is not failure. The real risk is standing still. We want to keep moving ahead.”

Words of wisdom

One of the biggest lessons Karan has learned over the years is the importance of showing up consistently. He highlights,

“Entrepreneurship is often romanticised as moments of breakthrough or big success, but in reality it is built through consistent effort over long periods of time.

What matters is we keep showing up even on the best, the worst, and the most average days, as hard work just needs opportunity to compound. 

Lastly, as he signs off, he leaves a note for budding entrepreneurs. Karan asserts,  

“Focus less on instant success and more on building something meaningful, step by step. If you keep moving forward with clarity and integrity, opportunities eventually find their way to you. If your foundation is strong, growth is not a question of if, but when.”
