Paying for a hotel room where you will only be staying for 5–6 hours can really take a toll on your budget when you are on a trip or vacation. Honestly, you would rather spend that money on new experiences or food.
On the same note, the founders of Brevistay—Prateek, Nikhil and Aditya—had an epiphany while they were on a trip to Manali. As many of us do, the trio tried to negotiate a deal for themselves, to no avail. Having to pay the entire room tariff, they knew there needed to be a better alternative.
This led to a discussion the next day, and they soon identified the gap in the Indian market for such an issue. In his research, Prattek found out that there was no solution as such for the issue even though the concept is relatively popular in Western nations. This led to his determination to bring about a change in the hospitality industry.
Since the founding of the company in 2016, Brevistay has expanded its operations from 5 cities to over 150 cities in India, managing over 60,000 rooms in 7,000+ hotels. Unlike its competitors, Brevistay has transformed hotel industry operations by providing customers with the option to choose from 3, 6, or 12 hours of stay. So now, whether a traveller is dealing with flight delays, layovers, etc, they can now book a room for the number of hours they will be available without having to pay the entire amount for a room.
Currently, according to Tracxn, Brevistay secured $381K in seed funding from Indian Angel Network and others, with an annual revenue of ₹5.7Cr ($711K) as of March 31, 2023.

Fun Fact
After appearing on Shark Tank India, Brevistay took Anupam Mittal’s suggestion to explore Love Hotels and created a prank website, “shaadi-se-pehle.com,” on April Fools’ Day. The website was designed in a way to appear like a real booking platform, but once the users went to the payment stage, it was revealed that it was all a prank.
The essential idea behind all of this was to caution and highlight the online scams that have been taking place in the name of love hotels in India. Surprisingly, the prank was also able to garner a huge number of visitors (over 1500), and some of them showed interest in working with them and being partners.
The curious case of “shaadi-se-pehle.com” is also a great case study of how easy it is to fool people and make them pay upfront.
