Interviewer: What was the inspiration behind Double S Enterprises, and how did you get started?
Shanaya: “From a young age, I was drawn to design, colours, storytelling, and experiences. At 17, I began interning with one of the country’s leading designers, and that opened my eyes to the world of events and creativity on a larger scale. I was always drawn to creativity and found myself mesmerised by how spaces could be transformed to tell a story. I was interning under a prominent designer, which exposed me to the scale, energy, and emotion behind events. That’s when I knew this was my calling.
I knew I wanted to build something of my own, a company that would blend aesthetics with emotion, and bring joy not just to couples but to their families too. That’s how Double S Enterprises was born out of a passion to build early, create fearlessly, and make celebrations feel personal.”
Interviewer: What do you believe sets Double S Enterprises apart from other luxury wedding planners?
Shanaya: “We don’t just design events, we design feelings. Every element we create is customised, thoughtful, and emotionally created. What also sets us apart is our attention to detail, from colour palettes and lighting to textures and timelines. I’m deeply involved in every project, ensuring the final outcome is not just beautiful, but magical in a way that feels authentic to the couple.
Our biggest strength lies in the fact that we are a mother-daughter team. This brings in a level of understanding, trust, and empathy that is often rare in the industry. Clients don’t just get a planner or a designer; they get two women who treat each wedding like it’s their own family affair.
Our personal touch, our eye for detail, and the relationships we build with our clients are what truly set us apart. People trust us not just with décor or logistics but with emotions. We understand family dynamics, we listen, and we care. That warmth translates into magic.”
Interviewer: What were the biggest challenges you faced as a young woman entering the industry, and how did you overcome them?
Shanaya: “Starting young in a competitive industry definitely came with its share of challenges. Building credibility, earning trust, and managing teams older than me were all learning curves. But I let my work speak for itself. I stayed true to my vision, focused on delivering excellence, and kept pushing creative boundaries. Another challenge was balancing creativity with logistics, and that’s where building a strong, dependable team made all the difference. I’ve learned that staying grounded while dreaming big is the key.
Like many women entrepreneurs in India, I had to navigate societal biases. Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is challenging enough, but add to that my young age, and it was a double-edged sword. Often, people questioned if I was capable, experienced, or strong enough to pull off large-scale events. There were moments when I had to fight harder just to be taken seriously.
But instead of letting those doubts hold me back, I let my work speak for itself. I stayed patient, focused, and consistent. With every event we delivered flawlessly, we gained trust and credibility. Over time, we’ve built a strong reputation, one that’s rooted in excellence, creativity, and reliability.”
Interviewer: What emotional milestones do you look for to know you’ve created something truly memorable?
Shanaya: “For me, success lies in the smiles, tears, and heartfelt thank-you messages from clients. When a couple says, “This was even more beautiful than we imagined, It’s in the tears of a bride who feels seen, the proud look in a parent’s eyes, and the messages we receive after an event saying, “You made our dreams come true.” That emotional validation is my true metric. That’s when I know we’ve done our job right.
Over the years, we’ve had the honour of planning and designing destination weddings, multi-day celebrations, and cultural fusions that have been featured across platforms. We’ve also built a strong presence on social media, connected with a loyal audience, and received nominations for industry awards all of which affirm we’re on the right path.
That said, I’m also incredibly proud of the scale we’ve achieved in a short time. We’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most luxurious 5-star properties in the world and have built strong relationships with top hospitality brands.
One of the most defining moments for me was being part of the Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani wedding. Being involved in an event of that magnitude was not just an honour it was transformative. It gave me a new perspective on the industry, showed me what was possible, and inspired me to think bigger.”
Interviewer: What milestones do you aim to hit in the coming year?
Shanaya: “We’re currently focused on expanding our presence across India and internationally. I’d love for Double S Enterprises to be known not just for décor and planning, but as a creative house that reimagines experiences. From intimate weddings to grand affairs, our aim is to scale while maintaining the bespoke touch we’re known for. Collaborations with like-minded vendors, exploring new formats, and staying inspired by global trends will be key to that growth.
My goal is to keep creating, keep building, and never stop doing what I love. Scaling the business is on the horizon, but I never want to lose that personal touch we’re known for. I want to continue evolving with trends and building a brand that stands for both heart and high standards.”
Interviewer: What one lesson do you want all entrepreneurs to hear?
Shanaya: “One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that passion is powerful, but consistency is what builds a brand. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s the power of being patient and grounded. Not everything happens overnight, and that’s okay. Building trust, finding your voice, and growing your craft takes time.
For anyone dreaming of entrepreneurship: don’t let your age, gender, or doubts hold you back. You’re never too young to dream big and never too small to make a difference. Keep showing up. Keep believing. And remember, your authenticity is your biggest strength.”
