Puneet Jain is the Co-founder and President of Phox Health, a healthcare technology company transforming prescription delivery through clinical-grade logistics. The platform enables real-time prescription fulfilment by connecting health-system pharmacies with patients, helping bridge the gap between when a prescription is written and when it is delivered.
An engineer by profession, Puneet previously founded and scaled Neetable, a global product development company, before co-founding Phox Health.
At Phox Health, he leads the technology and product vision, developing the intelligent dispatch systems, HIPAA-secure pharmacy integrations, and operational infrastructure that power the platform. Working alongside his co-founder, Dr. Amit Gir, who leads the clinical vision, Puneet is focused on turning it into working systems.
The Turning Point
Puneet reveals that he was inspired by a problem that his co-founder, Dr. Amit Gir, witnessed firsthand in clinical practice. As a practising physician, Dr. Gir frequently saw patients miss critical medications because prescription delivery was slow or unreliable, often resulting in avoidable hospital visits. He opens up,
“Dr. Amit realised the real problem was access, not adherence, and he called me, a longtime friend, to ask whether we could fix it with technology. The question we landed on was almost naive in its simplicity: what if getting your medication was as easy and fast as ordering dinner? We didn’t wait for permission or funding. He started cold-calling independent pharmacies while I started coding, and our first pilot ran in San Diego on nothing more than grit and Google Sheets.”
Built Around Patient Care
Phox Health differentiates itself by building its technology specifically for healthcare rather than adapting a conventional delivery platform. From the outset, the company was designed to meet the unique requirements of medical logistics, including cold-chain transportation, secure chain of custody, identity verification, complete audit trails, and the high level of accuracy that prescription delivery demands. Puneet adds,
“We also don’t compete with the pharmacies and health systems we serve; we power them from behind the scenes, often white-labeled. And we’re engineered to absorb pressure. When you can handle a sudden surge in volume without breaking, health systems trust you with the deliveries they can’t afford to get wrong.”
Meeting the Moment
One of Puneet’s biggest challenges came much earlier than expected when Phox Health had to prove it could scale under extraordinary circumstances. In 2019, the company partnered with Ochsner Health, its first major health system. Soon afterwards, the COVID-19 pandemic caused an unprecedented surge in demand for home prescription delivery, placing immense pressure on the platform and its operations.
The crisis validated the company’s technology and operating model. Phox Health successfully managed a 2,400% increase in delivery volume without a single service interruption. Puneet highlights,
“We got through it because the system was architected for exactly that kind of stress from the earliest days, and because we treated every delivery as if a patient’s recovery depended on it, which it often did.”
Built on Trust
“Success, for me, is patients reached and trust earned, not vanity metrics.”
Today, the company’s platform operates across all 50 U.S. states and supports on-demand prescription delivery for more than 50 health-system pharmacies, including Advocate Health, Kaiser Permanente, MetroHealth, and CommonSpirit.
The company’s work has also earned industry recognition. Phox Health was named among KLAS Research’s Top 20 Emerging Healthcare Solutions and featured in RXinsider’s Pharmacy 500. On a personal level, Puneet was named among Bangalore’s Top CEOs in 2023. For him, however, the most meaningful achievement is knowing that the platform has helped transform underserved areas into communities where patients can access critical medications quickly and reliably when they need them most.
The Next Chapter
The plan going forward is to expand Phox Health’s clinical-grade logistics platform beyond the United States and into global healthcare markets. The company’s next transition is its entry into India, where it plans to introduce the same real-time prescription delivery model that has supported health systems across the U.S. Puneet further adds,
“The goal is to prove that the approach we refined in the US can adapt to very different healthcare systems and still deliver. To get there, we’re doing what we’ve always done: building carefully, partnering with the right local players, and letting the reliability of the platform earn the trust.”
Reflections from the Journey
Puneet maintains that staying connected to the roots is essential, regardless of how large a business becomes. Despite running a national healthcare platform, he continues to write code because it keeps him closely connected to the product and the problems the company is solving. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing paddle, and travelling whenever he gets the opportunity.
He also reiterates that a meaningful business is built by solving real problems. Phox Health started with a simple idea, limited resources, and a strong conviction that technology could improve access to medication. As the need grew, so did the platform.
As he signs off, his word of advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is,
“Stay close to the problem and to the craft. I still write code today, because that’s where I understand our product most honestly. Don’t build in the abstract; build for the specific person on the other end. In our case, that person is a patient waiting on medication, and remembering that has guided every decision we’ve made.”
