In a freewheeling chat with Komal Choubisa, we take a look at her professional background and her recent venture into the world of writing.
Komal Choubisa, the author of ‘A Starry Eyed’, has always aimed high. Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident from a young age, as she questioned family astrologers not about marriage but about her prospects of settling abroad. This fascination with the Western lifestyle and international education shaped her path.
Her passion for aviation led her to work with IATA consolidators, where she gained significant experience. Initially driven by materialistic goals, she learned the hard way that true success is not measured by possessions. The loss of loved ones and the regret of missed connections shifted her perspective, teaching her the value of family blessings and love.
Komal is a spiritual person who finds solace in meditation and values her own company. She enjoys playing the guitar and listening to music. Her father’s support allowed her to live life on her terms, and she acknowledged his role in her journey. Through her writing, Komal aims to share her experiences and insights, encouraging others to focus on what truly matters.
True Calling
Komal, inspired by her journey through the corporate world, found her calling after a significant setback. After working with IATA consolidators, she joined a corporate brand she deeply enjoyed, surrounded by international colleagues and an inspiring environment. However, losing this job made her realise something. She says,
“I was born to do more. However, my circumstances forced me to work under brands, despite my desire for independence. Fortunately, my employers were amazing, and I consider myself lucky to have worked with them. Those experiences taught me valuable lessons. Even though there were a few pitfalls, they helped me to shape my fiction book, “A Starry-Eyed,” which is now popular among readers…”
Interviewer: Did you ever feel like you were stuck in a rat race?
Komal: “There’s no competition for me, at least in my case. I respect and bless everyone for growing and shining in their work. I’ve never been in a rat race, instead, I focus on my own lane. I don’t pretend to be someone else in the pursuit of success. I believe in being my authentic self and doing what I love. I enjoy supporting people and contributing to society. I never understood why fans give gifts to celebrities; instead, I think we should show appreciation for their love and support. Without them, we’re nothing.”
At her debut book launch, she honoured her supportive readers, whom she affectionately calls the ‘Ray of Star’ (ROS Fam). This close-knit community has not only been an integral part of her life but has also played a significant role in her happiness.
For Komal, success is not measured by wealth but by the love and support of her readers. Her goal is to use her earnings to give back, particularly by enhancing educational opportunities for those in need. She believes that proper education and guidance can address many societal challenges, reflecting her commitment to making a meaningful impact.
Navigating Challenges
Komal faced significant challenges on her journey. As the only girl in her community to pursue a career independently and travel abroad solo, she encountered considerable resistance.
Traditional expectations often confine women to marriage or limited travel opportunities, making her path particularly difficult. She experienced envy and criticism from those around her but navigated these obstacles with resilience, a positive attitude, and faith. She shares,
“I believe in divine power, which guided me significantly. Therefore, I attribute my success and well-being entirely to the Almighty.”

Komal’s greatest achievement is the support and love from her readers, whom she refers to as her ‘Ray of Star’ community. Their genuine affection and hope have been a significant source of her fulfilment, and together, they aspire to see her book become a bestseller. The strength and unity of this community are her greatest treasures, and their dedication is instrumental in her journey.
In terms of what holds in the near future, Komal reveals,
“I have great plans in the works. My ambition is to join the ranks of tycoons. I prefer not to discuss my goals in detail until I’ve achieved them. Once I’ve accomplished them, you’ll be among the first to know. My team is working diligently to make it happen.”

“Invest in the right employees, as skills can be learned, but loyalty and honesty are rare and invaluable traits. Consider your employees as part of your extended family. They work for you, and their dedication is a valuable asset.”
