From Web Services to Automation and Analytics, Harshal’s Next Chapter Focuses on Building Smarter Solutions for India’s SMBs

“The entrepreneurial journey is full of challenges, but each episode teaches you something valuable about leadership, innovation, and resilience.”

Harshal Kadam is a hands-on founder who builds practical tech for small businesses and trains the next generation of digital talent. Born in Raigad and trained as a computer engineer in Mumbai, he now splits his time between the United States and India while leading two ventures that grew from a single idea and stubborn persistence.

Digital Tycoon Technologies LLP started in 2015 with no external funding and a four-person team. Today, it is a 20-plus-person organisation that builds web products like CRM, smart learning, and travel portals, websites, mobile apps, and digital marketing programmes for education, real estate, e-commerce, and hospitality clients.

Harshal kept the focus practical from day one and focused on delivering measurable visibility and simpler operations for businesses that were still largely offline.
Alongside the agency, he runs Digital Skills Institute, an applied training school that has helped more than 2,000 students gain job-ready skills in web development, digital marketing, and design. The two initiatives feed each other: real client problems inform the curriculum, and well-trained graduates join projects with confidence.

Finding a Calling

“I observed that many traditional businesses were still operating offline and lacked digital systems.”

While still an engineering student, Harshal built websites for local travel and hotel businesses, he saw immediate improvements in traffic and bookings, and realised the potential of digital transformation. That success became the blueprint for scaling his service business that cares about outcomes and not just metrics. He reveals,

“This encouraged me to explore more opportunities by interacting with various business owners and understanding their business pain points. I realized digital transformation could simplify their challenges. Soon after, I built a small team and founded Digital Tycoon Technologies LLP. Within a year, we successfully served over 500 clients, laying the foundation for a growing enterprise driven by innovation and trust.”

A Competitive Edge

What makes Digital Tycoon different is its insistence on starting every project by learning how a client actually works, then designing simple, measurable fixes that improve visibility and reduce friction. That consultative, take-time-up-front approach builds trust and avoids the typical agency rush to deliver flashy but shallow campaigns. Harshal explains,
“We believe in clear communication, explaining strategies, benefits, and realistic outcomes before execution. This helps clients make informed decisions and builds mutual trust. Once aligned, we begin working with complete focus and collaboration. Unlike many agencies that prioritize quick delivery, we emphasize long-term results and measurable growth. We see ourselves not just as a service provider, but as a strategic digital partner who helps clients transform their business sustainably.”

The Journey

Harshal’s biggest early challenge was capacity. He took on too many projects with a small team, which stretched resources, created constant firefighting, and risked quality.

As a result, they moved from pure services to product-led automation, reduced manual load, improved delivery predictability, and made it possible to handle larger projects without burning out the team.

“I realised that we needed to build product-based solutions that could solve multiple business problems through automation. This mindset shift helped us grow smarter and manage larger projects efficiently.”

Even though there were challenges, there were also several milestones that made him realise that success for him was more about impact and trust and not revenue.
He served more than 500 clients in the company’s first year, built Digital Tycoon from a garage operation into a 20-plus person firm with zero external funding, and trained over 2,000 students through the Digital Skills Institute.

During the pandemic, he also developed a multi-category delivery app for the Raigad district government that served thousands, earned coverage across 50-plus media outlets covering the launch event, and sparked requests to replicate the model nationwide.

He has spoken at engineering and management colleges, partnered with Skill India Mission 2025, and represented the company at Chicago’s Small Business Expo, where he got the opportunity to discuss emerging technologies and AI trends with global startups, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
Building a bootstrapped business from Raigad to the international stage remains his proudest achievement. He also reveals,

“Through the Digital Skills Institute, we have trained 2,000+ students on cutting-edge technologies, preparing them for digital careers. We are also officially partnered with Skill India Mission 2025, promoting innovation and technology-based training programs for youth.”

The Next Frontier

For Harshal, the vision is to scale Digital Tycoon Technologies into product-led growth with a clear focus on AI & Automation-based software and applications.

He also plans to use AI-based marketing strategies for business in the USA & India for clients, now that they are benefiting from the solutions. Other plans include developing smarter, scalable products for Indian SMBs. He further adds,
“We aim to further grow the Digital Skills Institute by collaborating with universities and government initiatives to make cutting-edge technology education accessible to students. By combining innovation, education, and entrepreneurship, we hope to contribute meaningfully to India’s digital growth story and global presence.”

The Takeaways

One of the major lessons Harshal has learned is that patience, persistence, and adaptability matter more than speed. He encourages starting small, staying consistent, and solving a real problem for a real customer. He signs off with a note for budding entrepreneurs, saying,

“Never rush for success, build value first, and recognition will follow. Be honest with your clients, invest in your team, and always keep learning. True success lies in creating something that benefits others while fulfilling your own vision.”
