Myanka Singh – The need for change inspires me.

Does your age really matter to do great things? Meet Myanka Singh, a seventeen year old school student, who’s on a mission to make this world a better place for differently abled children. She founded her initiative, The Children of a Lesser God, an exclusive platform to discuss the life of differently abled children, when she was just sixteen.

At school, everyone used to bully Myanka. She drew inspiration from her experience and launched The Children of a Lesser God to bring conversations about differently abled people to the mainstream discourse.

Her initiative is now at the forefront to raise awareness about the differently abled children and is redefining the way we look at them. She talks about her journey.

1) What inspires you?

The need for change inspires me. Knowing that what I’m doing through my initiative can bring about even the slightest change in moving the world towards being more understanding and accessible for all is my inspiration to do better every single day.

2) What’s your tip to the beginners?

My only tip to anyone would be that you’re never too young or too inexperienced to start doing something that you believe in and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise because it’s your time to shine whenever you want it to be. I also feel it’s extremely important to stay true to the cause you believe in.

3) Who influenced you in your life?

As cliché as it sounds, the biggest influences in my life are my mother and sister. I’ve been raised around these two women who truly have shaped me into who I am today and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I give them all the credit for me being able to even answer these questions today.

4) What are you grateful for?

I’m someone who is grateful for all the little things whether it’s my mom’s food, my sister’s jokes, my father’s legacy, my teachers guidance and last but not the least, my friends who make me laugh all day long. For me, it’s always been about enjoying the small moments.

5) How do you unwind?

I unwind while binge watching a good movie while eating my favourite meal and then ending the day by chatting with my closest friends about the silliest of things.
